Scenario: oral placement and practice loop
Build an acceptable speaking rhythm with placement → practice → retake; personal archive and weak-dimension tips.

Audience: Students · Applies to: SaaS / private
Goal: Use placement → practice → retake as an acceptable rhythm for speaking improvement.
Why it is worth doing
- Placement: About 10 minutes for a suggested band, relative weak dimensions, and per-item tips (Me → Oral placement for history).
- Practice: Speak along those tips in Speaking → Self practice / To-do and build real talk time.
- Retake: Compare band or sub-scores to see whether recent practice helped.
One line: ~10 min baseline → read weak areas and item tips → targeted speaking practice → retake after a while to see progress.
This does not replace the daily Student workflow (To-do → practice → Records). Finish homework first; placement is an optional baseline or periodic review.
Suggested rhythm
| Stage | What to do | Where | Success check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Placement (first) | Finish one baseline run | Home or Me → Oral placement | Band + review analysis |
| Practice | Work weak dimensions for 1–2 weeks | Speaking → Self practice / To-do | Feedback in Records |
| Placement (retake) | Retest the same target language | Me → Oral placement → Retake | Trend in band or sub-scores |
| Practice (deepen) | New scenarios / modes | Speaking | Keep speaking regularly |
Turn placement results into practice
In the result screen or Me history review:
| Relative weak area | Example practice |
|---|---|
| Grammar | Scenario / free talk; full sentences |
| Fluency | Tap to talk 30–60 s on a topic; fewer long pauses |
| Vocabulary | Same scenario, different wording |
| Pronunciation | Shadowing / read-aloud style practice |
- Per-item tips: Understand each item’s improvement point, then practice similar expressions in speaking tasks.
- Avoid: retaking without practice; practicing without ever retaking; treating placement as a formal exam or stage grade.

Do not look in the wrong place
- Placement is on Home and Me → Oral placement — not in the five Speaking tabs (Self practice / To-do / Speaking tasks / Multi-party / Speaking exam).
- History, review, and retake live under Me; tap a past run to open that result.
Common mistakes
| Mistake | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Treating placement as an exam to “farm” scores | Results are reference only; not stage grades |
| Only reading the band, not sub-scores | Sub-scores and item tips show what to practice |
| Retaking too often | Practice 1–2 weeks or several sessions first |
