FAQ: Teacher teaching

What is on the teacher main nav?
Home / Space / Tasks / Reports / Me. Reports and curves live as tabs on Reports (Home “Export / reports” and “Trends / curve” also work); prefer Tasks to assign Speaking exam; Me → More is secondary; Messages live under Me. See Three roles and how to enter, First login, Run class space.
How do teachers assign a speaking task?
Sign in as Teacher → main nav Tasks → pick a class → fill title and practice type → publish (CTA is often “Assign speaking task”). See Assign speaking task.
Where do I assign a formal speaking exam?
Prefer Assign speaking exam on main nav Tasks; Me → More → Speaking exam is secondary. See Assign speaking exam. For day-to-day practice use Assign speaking task—do not mix with the exam entry.
How do I assign a textbook lesson to a class?
On main nav Tasks, choose assign method Assign from textbook → pick a textbook lesson → publish. You can make lesson-prep adjustments for this task only (does not rewrite the official pack). See Assign from textbook.
Students cannot see it after publish?
Confirm the task is published and not closed; the student is in that class with a usable account; ask them to refresh Speaking → To-do. If published count is 0, check whether the class has students.
Some practice types are missing?
Limited by org practice policy and platform capability packs. Ask the Organization admin to open them under practice policy, or confirm the platform enabled the pack. Layering: FAQ: Product capabilities and config.
How do I see class completion?
Teacher main nav Reports → default Class tab: completion rate, overdue, and student drill-down. See View class report.
What is the difference among Reports, reports, and curves?
Three tabs on the same Reports page:
- Class: learning status and drill-down; also configure stage grading rules and generate stage grades here
- Export / reports: template preview and CSV/PDF export (Home “Export / reports”, Me → More secondary)
- Trends / curve: completion trends (Home “Trends / curve”, Me → More secondary)

How are stage grades calculated and generated?
Under Reports → Class, create stage rules for the class (weights for regular / exam, etc.) → Publish → Generate grades. Regular work is often the average of best task scores; exams aggregate by highest / latest / average, then weight into the stage score. Details: Stage grades: rules and generate.
Why did generating stage grades fail?
Common causes: rule still draft (not published); combined/exam mode but the org has not opened speaking exams; no matching regular or exam tasks in the time window. See Stage grades.
What are class practice defaults?
Prefill for new tasks; a single task can override them, and they cannot exceed org policy. Entry: Me → Settings → Class practice settings. See Class practice defaults, Four config layers map.
Where do I approve student time requests?
Home (badge + pending panel—recommended daily) or Me → Usage. Details: Usage and top-up approvals.
Where do I assign formal exams?
Prefer Assign speaking exam on main nav Tasks; Me → More → Speaking exam is secondary. See Assign speaking exam.
How should a week of teaching run?
Set defaults → assign → read Reports (switch to Trends / curve or Export / reports as needed) → adjust again. See Teacher workflow.
Can teachers export grades?
Prefer Reports → Export / reports (includes stage-grade templates when available); org-level export stage grades and bulk reconciliation: Export grades and rosters, Stage grades, and CSV: export and reconcile.
Where are Messages?
The Messages area under Me; the top-bar envelope also opens Me. Main nav has no separate Messages item. See Messages and notifications.
Teacher cannot see classes?
Ask the Organization admin to confirm the teacher account is imported and bound as a class member. See Classes and authorize teachers.
What is “Voice identity” on an exam report?
It means the pre-exam match for “is this the same person?”—usually similarity % and pass/fail. Not a pronunciation score. Student registration: Voice identity registration; org toggles: How orgs enable it.
Where do I see student oral placement? Does it change the class?
On the Classes roster you may see a short summary (e.g. “Placement L3 · ≈ N3 (reference)”). It does not auto-change class language level. Not a formal exam. See Student oral placement.
