Student: Voice identity
Register your voice sample so formal speaking exams (and optional practice spot-checks) can confirm it is you.
Audience: Students · Applies to: SaaS / private (instance must enable the Voice identity capability pack; trial orgs usually do not require it. When formal service goes live, the platform tries to enable the pack automatically.)
Goal: Finish Voice identity registration and pass verification before a formal exam starts.
What it is
Voice identity confirms the speaker is you (voiceprint match). It is not pronunciation scoring.
Under Settings → Speaking & exams, the organization can separately require verification for formal exams and/or practice, and set a pass threshold (default about 95%). The engine is configured by the organization / platform ops—students do not pick a model vendor.
Where to register
- Open Me → Settings (or the Voice identity entry in Settings).
- Accept the collection notice (sensitive biometric data).
- Read aloud for about 3–5 seconds as prompted, then submit.
- When status is “registered,” you can use it for exam verification; you can void and re-register later.
Trial orgs often show “verification not required.” If the page says the capability pack is off, ask your teacher or Organization admin.
Before a formal exam starts
When the org requires exam voiceprint and the pack is available:
- On Speaking → Speaking exam, before you start an exam, a register or verify dialog may appear (finish in place—no need to visit Settings first).
- If not registered, register first; if already registered, record a short clip for matching.
- Only after pass do you enter the formal exam session. On failure the UI shows similarity % and the required threshold; retry per org policy (retry count limited).
The Voice identity block on Settings is mainly for status / re-register—not the primary discovery path.
What teachers see
When a teacher opens a formal exam detail under Reports, they can see Voice identity: similarity % · pass/fail (“is this the same person?” wording)—not vectors or other technical detail.
Spot-checks in practice (optional)
If the org turns on practice voiceprint, the first valid recording may be spot-checked. Default is often warn and still continue; if the org sets block, a fail stops that submission. See Settings copy and on-screen prompts.
Acceptance
- Settings shows registration status and org threshold (when present).
- When required for formal exams, you cannot start without registration; after register, verification can pass.
