Student: Oral placement
Optional short speaking check for a suggested level band (course tier and certificate-style reference tags). Not a formal exam; does not change class difficulty.

Goal: Complete an optional oral placement from Home, understand the result, and know teachers can see a summary while class difficulty is never auto-changed.
What it is
Oral placement (level check / diagnostic) is a short speaking flow (about 10 minutes: read aloud, Q&A, topic talk, etc.). After you finish you get:
- A suggested band (e.g. L1–L5) and mapped course tier (e.g. elementary / intermediate)
- Certificate-style reference tags (e.g. ≈ N3 / B1 / HSK4 — reference only)
- A simple ability summary (fluency, pronunciation, etc. for reference)
Results are saved to your profile. Teachers may see a roster summary.
What it is not

Where to take it
Home (start a new run)
- Sign in as a student and open Home.
- Find the Oral placement card.
- Choose the target language (Japanese / English / Chinese, as listed).
- Complete the mic check, then each item: hold the microphone to speak, release to confirm, then submit or re-record. There is no on-screen transcript — do not paste text instead of speaking.
- Review the suggested band, reference tags, and review analysis (relative weak dimensions, per-item tips).
Me (history, review, retake)
Under Me → Oral placement you can:
- See recent placement summaries
- Tap a past run to open that result and review analysis
- Tap Retake for a new run
Teachers may see a roster summary (reference only). Placement audio is not stored.
You can also open placement from other speaking entry points if your organization links them. It is not one of the five Speaking tabs (Self practice / To-do / Speaking tasks / Multi-party / Speaking exam).
After you read the result

Is it required?
No. Take it when you need it, or retake later. Class language level is still set by teachers / academic staff — placement never auto-changes class difficulty.
What teachers see
On the Classes roster, teachers may see a short summary such as “Placement L3 · ≈ N3 (reference)” for grouping or assignment planning. Changing the class still uses class settings.
Success checks
- You can open placement from Home and finish one full run.
- The result screen says it is a reference / not an exam score, with band + tags.
- A retake updates your latest result.
