Minute pool billing (SaaS and Oral)
How billable minutes work, 50-seat packs, 600 min/seat, and how SaaS and Oral share the same pool semantics.

Audience: Org admins, procurement, Oral developers · Applies to: DodoSpeak SaaS and DodoSpeak Oral
Goal: SaaS and Oral use the same minute pool language for usage and contracts. Commercial numbers still come from your agreement.
What is a billable minute?
- Wall-clock time from session start to end, rounded up to whole minutes.
- Not tied to turn count or audio file seconds.
- SaaS rolls up completed sessions; Oral embed debits the tenant pool on session complete.
50-seat packs × 600 minutes
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Seat | A learner who can speak (SaaS: active students; Oral: roster learners) |
| 50-seat pack | Sold in packs of 50 learners (Oral: “learner pack count”) |
| 600 min / seat / period | About 600 minutes per seat per period (same scale as SaaS plan S: 50 seats ≈ 30,000 min) |
| Minute pool | Period total ≈ packs × 50 × 600 (Oral trial has separate trial minutes — see Oral docs) |
SaaS plans S / M / L / XL follow the same seats × 600 ratio. See org Settings → Plan & usage and Trial expiry and go live.
How Oral buys packs (console)
- Signup collects expected learner scale (same bands as SaaS). The console suggests N packs — no auto charge.
- Monthly subscription: one SKU, quantity = pack count; default from the suggestion, editable before checkout.
- One-shot add-on: +1 pack (50 learners · ~30,000 min) per purchase; increase quantity or buy again.
- 300+ learners: contact sales for custom pack counts.
SaaS vs Oral pricing
- Same minute definition and pool math (600/seat, 50-seat packs).
- Oral list price is about 2/3 of SaaS for the same minute pool — the gap is unit price, not fewer minutes.
- Page widget and login mint are the same Oral price; difference is integration (roster code vs your learner id). See Embed methods.
Tenant pool vs personal quota
- Tenant pool: Total minutes for the org or Oral sandbox in the period.
- Personal quota (Oral console / your BFF): Split
(pool − reserve) ÷ N(floor); reserve stays on the tenant. - SaaS also has class practice-time planning and approval — different UX, same minute-pool idea.
